"He has melodies, and he has lyrics, and he shapes his musical clay into images that few writers today are capable of."
- John Apice, NO DEPRESSION
Americana, rock, folk, singer-songwriter, Andy Sydow is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist who's lyrics paint a picture of poetic realism. Touring consistently both solo and with a backing band, Sydow is known to sway an audience with acoustic guitar ballads, sing a few numbers on his lap steel, and even sit down at the keys to show off his surprising boogie-woogie piano chops. He draws comparisons to voices like Paul Simon and Jackson Browne, mixed with a roots rock vibe reminiscent of Tom Petty or Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats.
2024 saw the release of, Night Skin, a full length album produced by Anders Osborne at Dockside Studio in Maurice, LA. Osborne also played guitar and sang backing vocals, with Mike Dillion on percussion, and Casandra Faulconer rounding out the quartet on bass. After the albums release, Sydow celebrated by opening multiple dates for John Hiatt. The full band (Andy Sydow & The Minor League) had an official release show at The Bluebird Theater in Denver, CO, before heading out on a southern/midwest US tour.
Aside from Hiatt and Osborne, Sydow has also had the chance to open for acts such as: Dawes, Chuck Prophet, Lucero, Brett Dennen, Shane Smith & The Saints, and Dick Dale. He was also named a finalist in the Telluride Troubadour Contest (2024), Acorn Theater Songwriter Contest (2024), LEAF Songwriter Contest (2024), Kerrville New Folk Songwriter Competition (2023 & 2021), Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Songwriter Competition (2023), and International Songwriting Competition (2021).
Sydow has toured internationally and received accolades from No Depression, Stereo Stickman, We Write About Music, and Daily Music Spin. In addition, the last several years have seen the release of over a dozen tracks Sydow produced for other artists, including Lauren Frihauf and Payge Turner (The Voice, Season 19).
When he's not touring, writing, or recording, Sydow spends time talking to other creatives and music industry professionals on his podcast, Middle Class Rock Star. The hour"ish" long weekly program comes out periodically on all streaming platforms, as well as 30 FM stations around Colorado (via Chris K's Colorado Playlist). MCRS has played host to the likes of: Andy Frasco, Shane Smith & The Saints, Sunny War, Dango Rose (Elephant Revival), Jeremy Lawton (Big Head Todd & The Monsters), Todd Smallie (Derek Trucks, JJ Grey & Mofro), Mickey Raphael (Willie Nelson), Leftover Salmon, and Phil Cook.
Originally from the Denver area, Sydow now resides in Nashville, TN.
